A message from our President.
I would like to thank our members for electing me president
of our lodge. Our immediate past president Barbara Stonnell did
an exemplary job and I am proud to have served as her Vice
President. Lets applaud her for her conscience efforts.
I was honored to be selected to represent our lodge at NJ
OSIA *Purple Astor Charity Ball 2008. Our collective efforts in
charitable donations and fund raising resulted in thousands of
dollars given to causes which would help eliminate potentially
deadly and incapacitating diseases such as; Alzheimer's,
Arthritis and Cooley's Anemia. (Cooley's Anemia directly
affecting those of Italian decent.). Truly the atmosphere was
festive and without doubt, familia Italiano! *(For your
information, the Purple Astor flower is the national flower of
Italy.) I had the pleasure of conferring with our state
officials and promised them an opportunity to address our lodge
in the very near future. Lets thank Charity Chairpersons Joseph
Marcasciano, Barbara Marcasciano and Dominic Pucci for making
this event a complete success.
As your newly elected president I would like to incorporate
new strategies and programs not only of interest to our current
members but to draw new members and motivate retention. Some
programs will reach out to encourage Italian history and
language courses in schools and universities in the area. Part
of this I hope would develop a student exchange program here and
in Italy.
I would like to plan in the very near future trips to Ellis
Island, the Statue of Liberty and Little Italy in New York City.
Any of you who have any ideas in keeping this Lodge vibrant can
see me anytime, lets discuss any and all ideas!
Lets work together and have fun too!
I look forward in working with each and everyone of you in
making Lodge 2621 a success.
Gracie!
Fraternally,
Ralph J. Rubinek
President
